Acrobatic dance or acro is a style that combines classical dance technique with precise acrobatic elements. Dancers will focus on building strength and flexibility as they work on developing acrobatic tricks. 

Benefits of Acro:

  • Improves strength in the core, arms, and legs through targeted exercises that help dancers develop new tricks.
  • Teaches proper technique for execution of tumbling tricks such as cartwheels, somersaults, aerials, etc dependent upon the dancer’s level.
  • Boosts confidence and self-esteem as dancers master new tricks.
  • Promotes teamwork and trust as dancers work together to incorporate their tricks into choreography.

What to Wear:

Shoes: No shoes/barefoot

Clothing: Female dancers should wear convertible or stirrup style tights and a leotard. Dance shorts and jazz pants/leggings may be worn over tights at the instructor’s discretion. Male dancers should wear form fitted dance pants and a form fitted t-shirt or tank. Baggy or loose-fitted clothing is not permitted.
